If you thought it was odd for Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin to call their break-up a “conscious uncoupling,” check out what Jewel and Ty Murray are calling their divorce.
Jewel announced on her website Wednesday that she and Murray, a world champion rodeo cowboy, are divorcing after six years of marriage.
Or, as she calls it, a “tender undoing of ourselves,” the difficult task of “undoing ourselves stitch by stitch.”
(We think the word she was looking for is “unhitched.”)
The two dated for 10 years before quietly marrying in the Bahamas in 2008. They have a son, Kase, who turns 3 this month.
Kase is of their utmost concern, Jewel wrote, as they take on new roles as “dear friends and devoted co-parents.”
“For some time we have been engaged in private and difficult, but thoughtful and tender undoing of ourselves,” she wrote. “Allowing ourselves the time and space to redefine what we are to each other with love rather than with malice.”
She said she was sharing the news with fans because she wanted them to hear it from her and Ty and not the tabloids. Fans quickly posted words of encouragement and support to the site.
