Kansas City has long been fertile hunting grounds for reality TV shows looking for folks who want to be instantly famous/infamous.
So heads-up, all you wannabes. Both “American Idol” and “The Bachelor” are coming to town in a few weeks.
“The Bachelor” is coming to find men who want to be the next bachelor and women who think they can “win” the next bachelor.
Remember, the last winner came from the Kansas City area. In fact, we see that Nikki Ferrell and “Bachelor” Juan Pablo Galavis are still going strong.
So well, in fact, that rumors of an engagement surfaced last week, even on the heels of news that the two have joined the fifth season of VH1’s “Couples Therapy” reality show, which started filming last month.
“The Bachelor” will hold a casting call from 5 to 9 p.m. July 10 in the lower level of the Courtyard by Marriott at Briarcliff, 4000 N. Mulberry Drive.
Then, for all you David Cook wannabes out there – remember him? – “American Idol” will hold auditions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 21 at Swinney Commons, 5030 Holmes Road, on the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus.
You have to be between the ages of 15 and 28 to audition. Go to americanidol.com for other requirements, release forms and updated info.
