The dates have been set. The fifth annual Big Slick fundraising weekend for Children’s Mercy, which brings big-name celebs to Kansas City, will be June 20 and 21.
The event will be hosted this year by Rob Riggle, Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, David Koechner and Eric Stonestreet. The money raised will benefit the Cancer Center at Children’s Mercy.
The event is an annual homecoming for the guys. Riggle, Rudd, Sudeikis and Stonestreet all claim KC as their hometown.
Koechner, star of TV’s “The Office” and the “Anchorman” movies, is a native of Tipton, Mo. He and Stonestreet are new co-chairs for the event this year.
Riggle, Rudd and Sudeikis threw the first Big Slick fundraiser, a celebrity poker tournament and party, in 2010. Since then the event has taken on a giant life of its own, attracting Will Ferrell, Jon Hamm, John Oliver, Nick Kroll, Johnny Knoxville and other stars and raising more than $1.4 million for charity.
Here’s the lineup for this year’s events:
• June 20: The Big Slick Celebrity Classic game (5:30 p.m.) at the Little K at Kauffman Stadium before the Royals play the Seattle Mariners.
• June 21: The Big Slick Celebrity Bowl tournament (10:30 a.m.) at Pinstripes, 13500 Nall Ave., Overland Park.
• June 21: The Big Slick Celebrity Party Auction (8:15 p.m.), the main event of the weekend, at the Arvest Bank Theatre at The Midland. Past auction items have included set visits to “Modern Family” and “Anchorman 2” and various movie premieres.
