If they plan it we will come? We’ll find out on Father’s Day weekend when Kevin Costner and a host of Hollywood celebrities and sports stars descend on Iowa to celebrate the 25th anniversary of “Field of Dreams.”
The party will take place where the 1989 movie was set and filmed near Dyersville, Iowa.
Costner, who played farmer Ray Kinsella, will reunite on Friday, June 13 with cast members Timothy Busfield, Dwier Brown and others on the famous baseball field, according toThe Des Moines Register
That night the movie will be shown on center field and Matt Lauer of the “Today” show will interview the cast. NBC sportscaster Bob Costas will emcee the festivities.
The next day, cast members and other celebrities, yet to be named, will play in a daylong baseball tournament.
Sports stars scheduled to play include former Royals pitcher Bret Saberhagen, Ryan Dempster and Glendon Rusch.
“I've come to know how much this film means to people from all over America and particularly know how important it has become to Iowans,” Costner said in a video played at a press conference this week in Chicago.
“‘Field of Dreams’ is special to all of us that were lucky enough to be in it, too. It transcends more than just baseball. It is about believing in the unbelievable. It's about relationships. It’s about fathers and sons and the things that go unsaid for too long.”
