Screams like a girl

Did he throw his underwear at him, too?

“Rock of Ages” director

Adam Shankman is unabashed in describing his reaction to hearing Tom Cruise

sing for the first time.

Shankman, who also directed the movie version of “Hairspray,” listened as Tom, who plays rock star Stacee Jaxx, took his first lesson with

Axl Rose

’s former voice coach. “He sounded amazing,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “And within one lesson his range broadened as he opened up. I opened the door, and I was like a 15-year-old girl, I was screaming and jumping up and down and going, ‘This is going to work.’ ”

A Palin presidency?

When Fox News’

Sean Hannity asked Bristol Palin

if she’d ever follow in her mom’s political footsteps, Bristol ran screaming from the interview.

Kidding!

Actually,

Sarah Palin

’s offspring — whose reality show, “Life’s a Tripp” debuts Tuesday on Lifetime — said: “I don’t think I’d shut (the door) completely yet. I’m only 21, but not any time soon.”

Woody’s review

If you’ve ever wondered why

Woody Allen

releases his movies in the summer ...

“I feel that in the summertime everybody comes out with these ... awful movies and grown-ups never have a chance to just go to the movies,” he tells the Wall Street Journal. “There’s almost nothing to see. So I like to put my movies out in the summer because I feel like people like to have an option to see something that isn’t car chases, toilet jokes, special effects.”

No rubber chicken here

TMZ caught

Aretha Franklin leaving Sarah Jessica Parker’s splashy $40,000-a-plate dinner party for President Obama

Thursday night, and the Queen of Soul served up details on the impressive fare: “chicken with a mustard sauce, diced tomatoes and a lot of relishes on the side of the plate. Very tasty.”

Force is strong with him

Child actor

Max Page is doing well after open-heart surgery on Thursday. Max, 7, is the mini Darth Vader in that Volkswagen Super Bowl commercial last year. “We had to replace the pulmonary valve, which we did without incident,” surgeon Vaughn Starnes

said in a statement. Max was born with a congenital heart defect and has had several surgeries.
