Let’s hear it for late-night diversity! The Hollywood Reporter says that Fox is finalizing a deal with actress-comedian Wanda Sykes
for a Saturday late-night show. The hourlong show, slated to premiere in the fall, will succeed the recently canceled sketch comedy "MadTV."
This follows TBS’ announcement of a new late-night talk show hosted byGeorge Lopez
Sykes, not known for holding back — ah, let’s just say it, she’s opinionated — represents a rare female presence in late-night, dominated now by white male hosts.
Her show will be topical and feature a panel of recurring guests sparring over issues from politics to pop culture. Sykes will also take her tart tongue out among the public in field segments.
Right now she co-stars on CBS’ "The New Adventures of Old Christine," and previously headlined the sitcom "Wanda at Large" on Fox.
We can’t wait.
