The big Spider-Man news on Wednesday: Oscar winner Marisa Tomei is in final negotiations to play Peter Parker’s Aunt May.
Is the world ready for a younger, sexier, hotter Aunt May?
The Hollywood Reporter says that 50-year-old Tomei could possibly make her first appearance as beloved Aunt May next year in Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War.”
Tom Holland will play Peter Parker in a cameo appearance in the “Captain America” flick and again in Sony’s Spider-Man film in July 2017.
Neither studio has commented on Tomei’s casting.
The Spider-Man reboot is expected to feature a younger, high-school age Parker, which means that Aunt May, his adoptive parent, must be younger, too.
Sally Field and Rosemary Harris have both played the role in previous Spider-Man movies.
Twitter appeared outraged conflicted/angered/surprised by the idea of a perimenopausal Aunt May.
