Modest Mouse will perform at the Uptown Theater on July 13, its first appearance in Kansas City since July 2010.

Mimicking Birds, a five-piece indie-rock/folk band from Portland, Ore., will open.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via Ticketmaster. Prices: $38 and $42.

It has been seven years since Modest Mouse last released a studio album, “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.” Announcement of the 2014 tour has raised hopes that lead singer and songwriter Isaac Brock and the band are close to finally releasing a sixth album. Modest Mouse has been playing new songs on this tour, including “Heart of Mine/Sugar Boats,” which a reviewer in Orlando said issued a “deranged-carnival-calliope vibe provided by trumpet and piano.”
