PorchFest KC to fill West Plaza neighborhood with diverse array of music

PorchFest KC is coming to the the West Plaza neighborhood of Kansas City in June. The event will feature more than five dozen bands performing from the front porches of more than 30 homes in an 18-block area of the the neighborhood on June 14, a Saturday. Audiences will listen from lawns and sidewalks in front of the homes. The event is free, but bands will be accepting tips at each performance site. In the event of rain, the festival will be held June 15.
Music styles will range from traditional folk and country to jazz, blues, bluegrass, rock and Americana. Several out-of-town bands will be part of the festival. Among the local bands who will perform: Blackbird Revue, Maria the Mexican, David George and A Crooked Mile, John McKenna, the Rural Grit Allstars, Mikal Shapiro, Kasey Rausch, Project H, the KCYA Youth Garage Band, Scarlet Town, Doug Nelson and Front Porch 40s.
