Documentary 'Body of War' screening to raise money for subject's health care

“Body of War,” the recent documentary about Kansas Citian veteran Tomas Young, who was paralyzed when he was shot while serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq, will be screened here as part of a fund-raiser.

More than a month ago, Young, who is unable to move from the chest down, suffered a pulmonary embolism — a blood clot in his lung. Since then he has been on a respirator in the intensive care unit at St. Luke’s Hospital.

The screenings of “Body of War” at 7 p.m. Monday, June 30 and Tuesday, July 1, and 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at the Screenland Crossroads Theatre at 17th and Washington will raise money for Young’s medical care.

Organizers are suggesting a donation of $10, although they say no one will be turned away for lack of money.

For more information call David Quinly at 816-694-3334.
