“I think it’s sad,” says Frederick manager Parris Johnson, who hosted O’Neal during her stay there. “I think it just goes to show that no matter how much money you have, if you have a problem, you’re going to revert back to it.”
What O’Neal was like to work with?
“She wasn’t warm or friendly to anyone the whole time,” Johnson says. “She really wasn’t. So I just let her go her own way and tried to stay out of her way and bring her everything she needed. She was very high-maintenance.”
Johnson’s wildest O’Neal tale?
“The first night she was here she got pulled over for speeding, and when the cop pulled her over, she said, ‘Don’t you know who I am?’
“And he didn’t, but he didn’t give her a ticket, but he wanted an autograph after she told him. And the first day she was here, she was like, ‘Where’s the Starbucks?’ And I said, ‘Well, there’s one in Columbia.’ She just never seemed very happy. You know, everybody else (in the movie) had a fun time.”
