If you missed any episodes from the sophomore season of “Mad Men,” here’s your chance to catch up, as they all repeat beginning at 4 p.m. leading up to the new episode at 9 p.m. on AMC. The show is much more episodic this season; don’t be surprised to see storylines drop away, only to resurface two hours later. Complex storytelling, great characters and those JFK-era fashions — what’s not to like?
MONDAY
Apparently the “Prison Break” audience is so hard-core, it will rush home from Labor Day picnics and/or vacations to watch the show. In fact, at 7 p.m. on Fox 4, not one but two episodes will air to kick off the fourth season of the show, which in the last two years has morphed into a conspiracy serial thriller that reaches to the highest levels of government.
TUESDAY
“The Shield” returns at 9 p.m. on FX for its seventh and final season. If you missed my review of “The Shield” and the Wednesday debut of another edgy new FX drama, “Sons of Anarchy,” from last Sunday’s A+E, you can read them online at KansasCity.com (Google “TV Barn anarchy”).
WEDNESDAY
In the “my, how far they’ve come” category: One of the 14 finalists on “America’s Next Top Model” was, as she puts it, “born in the wrong body,” which is to say transgender, though I find more compelling the fact that the show’s producers found her in a homeless shelter. The 11th “Top Model” competition kicks off at 7 p.m. on the CW (KCWE).
FRIDAY
“Dogtown,” a reality series filmed at a no-kill pet sanctuary in Utah, returns with new episodes at 8 p.m. on National Geographic Channel, beginning with four of the toughest cases imaginable: pit bulls rescued from NFL quarterback Michael Vick’s compound. I met Georgia, one of Vick’s most prized fighters, at a press event in July. Her trainer, John Garcia, said she’s good enough to be adopted. I agree.
SATURDAY
“The Locator” (8 p.m. on WE tv) — not to be confused with “The Closer” or “The Cleaner” — is Troy Dunn, who already has a reputation in Great Britain as a tracer of lost persons who specializes in the tough cases.
