    What to watch this week

    TONIGHT

“Recount” (8 tonight on HBO). Seemingly aimed right at fans of HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” is this docudrama re-enacting events of the 2000 Florida presidential election re-count that wound up determining who went to the White House — and, by extension, what happened after 9/11. Kevin Spacey and Denis Leary star.

    THURSDAY

“At the Death House Door” (8 p.m., IFC). Two of the filmmakers behind the acclaimed “Hoop Dreams” take a new look at the death penalty, through the eyes of a chaplain who’s presided over 95 executions; through the eyes of the convict whose execution troubled the chaplain the most; and through Chicago journalists who uncovered evidence suggesting a man was wrongly put to death.

“Lost” (8 p.m., KMBC-9). Because of an unplanned four-week hiatus — indeed, “Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof was one of the writers’ strike leaders — the promised exciting climax won’t air until this week, too late to be counted in the season’s Nielsen ratings. The two hours are airing together at the producers’ insistence, preceded at 7 p.m. by a re-edited encore of the May 15 episode.

We already know that six survivors of the ill-fated flight that crashed in the very first episode are getting off the island. Not until the finale, however, will we learn “what they have to sacrifice, and what happens to the people who didn’t leave,” as Lindelof put it in an interview.
