Randy Curnow lives in Liberty, which is also his wife’s home town. One of his three dealerships, Randy Curnow Auto Plaza at 565 N. 291 Highway is in Liberty. He loves the Liberty market.
But Randy Curnow Auto Plaza is interested in reaching used-car buyers beyond Liberty.
“We are trying to have a presence over the entire metro area,” Curnow said. “Anybody who has a car for sale, we want them to bring it by and we will give them a written proposal on that vehicle. If somebody wants a 2-year-old Mercedes, and we find that car in Pennsylvania, we will buy it online and have it brought in for them.
“If someone is looking for a particular car, we get on the Internet. With the Internet, the car business has become more of a national thing than a local thing. We can find cars on the East coast and the West coast, wherever, and have them brought in.”
Randy Curnow Auto Plaza is in the ideal spot for Curnow. With its huge billboard sign, it is visible from 291 Highway and Interstate 35.
Also, it is the midpoint of two other Curnow dealerships: Randy Curnow Buick GMC at 7707 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan., and Randy Curnow Chevrolet Buick GMC at 509 Northland Drive in Cameron, Mo.
“This is really strategically placed in between those two dealerships to market used cars,” Curnow said. “We really like this market. I have been in the car business for 30 years. I started north of the river.”
In the last year, Randy Curnow Auto Plaza has made a push to enhance its inventory.
“We are going to a later model vehicle,” Curnow said.
Added Doug Milner, general sales manager at Randy Curnow Auto Plaza, “One thing we have done since I have arrived (nearly a year ago) is we have doubled the size of our inventory, which gives the customer a better variety of vehicles to choose from.”
To get a look at the inventory, go to www.rcautoplaza.com or randycurnow.com.
“Buying a car at this dealership is the same as buying from a new car dealer,” Milner said. “We give them the same kind of service, the same kind of warranty and the same kind of service after the sale.
“Most of your consumers would like to have service after the sale. Most of your used-car operations only provide you with a car and a handshake. We want our customers coming back so we can take care of them after sale.”
The relationship with a customer is one of the aspects Curnow enjoys about the car business.
“I have customers who have been buying cars from me for 30 years and most of them call me on the phone and they show up to pick their car up,” Curnow said. “They know I am going to take good care of them.”
Randy Curnow Auto Plaza is more than a used car lot.
“We also do a large fleet commercial business in our service department,” Curnow said. “We are constantly looking for people on the commercial end. We have mechanics on staff to do those commercial accounts.”
And if you are looking to buy or sell a car, Curnow wants it known that Randy Curnow Auto Plaza in Liberty is a viable option.
“One of the things we specialize in is finding cars for people,” Curnow said. “The other thing is we buy cars from individuals. We are a buy center.
“A person will tell us exactly what kind of car they are looking for, and we locate it, make the deal, bring the car in and deliver it to them.”
