Notes, video from Kansas State's practice day in St. Louis

Kansas State has practiced and fulfilled its media obligations for the day and the Wildcats are currently shooting in front fans at the Scottrade Center. Will Spradling, by the way, looks right at home. He is making everything. Anyway, here are a few tidbits that Bruce Weber and players shared with media today:

After 44 years, Benedictine Ravens return to the NAIA Tournament

It has been 44 years since Benedictine last played in the NAIA men’s basketball tournament, a dry spell that will end tonight. And the school plans to celebrate in a big way — by trying to shatter the record for the largest crowd to attend a session since the tourney returned to KC in 2002.

Three keys to a Missouri NIT win against Davidson

Historically, the Missouri Tigers haven’t embraced the NIT. They are 1-7 all-time. Coach Frank Haith aims to change that at 8 tonight against Davidson (ESPN2) and hopes that the season wraps up at Madison Square Garden. “That’s the plan,” Haith said. “We practiced well today and we’ve got so many young guys. Usually, that’s a formula to get guys up to play.”

NCAA Tournament odds

Florida is the odds-on favorite to win the NCAA Tournament at 11-to-2, acording to Bovada.lv. The Gators are the top pick to come out of the South Region at 9-to-5, followed by Kansas at 15-to-4. Wichita State is the third pick to come out of the Midwest Region at 4-to-1 and is 10-to-1 to win the NCAA Tournament.

Missouri hopes to reverse defensive woes in NIT opener

Davidson’s motion offense with an array of shooters could pose a problem for Missouri’s porous three-point defense in Tuesday’s 8 p.m. NIT matchup at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers, who rank 111th in three-point field-goal defense, allowed 238 threes on the season, an average of 7.2 per game.
