An Omaha company has bought the Kansas City, Kan., facility that once made Greenies pet treats, idling 25 employees at the plant. Sergeant’s Pet Care Products Inc. paid Atchison, Kan.-based MGP Ingredients Inc. $3.6 million for the plant at 16 Kansas Ave. The deal included equipment MGP used to make other pet treats but not equipment it used to make a texture protein meat extender and substitute. read more
