Obama lands in KC for speech on economy, goes to Arthur Bryant’s

President Barack Obama arrived in Kansas City on Tuesday evening, with plans to eat dinner with local residents who have written letters to the White House in support of some of his programs. He’ll talk Wednesday morning at the Uptown about the economy.

World War I Museum urges people to mark war’s centennial by reading classics

The museum and the Kansas City Public Library are encouraging people to read the novel “All Quiet on the Western Front” by Erich Remarque and the nonfiction work “The Guns of August” by Barbara W. Tuchman. The collaboration, titled Great War/Great Read, features a series of public programs that will continue through October. It begins at 1 p.m. Sunday at the museum at Liberty Memorial.
