Nori Aoki’s walkoff single in 14th lifts Royals over Indians 2-1

Nori Aoki spread his arms and waited. At 11:34 p.m., four hours and 23 minutes after an interminable, preposterous night at the ballpark began, the Royals rushed to greet him in the dirt near second base. Aoki cracked a walkoff single in the bottom of the fourteenth inning on Thursday, plating Lorenzo Cain to usher his club to a 2-1 victory over the Indians.

Former priest Shawn Ratigan’s 50-year sentence for child pornography upheld

A federal appeals court on Thursday upheld the 50-year prison sentence of Catholic priest and convicted child pornographer Shawn Ratigan. Ratigan, who was sentenced last September after pleading guilty to federal charges of producing and attempting to produce child pornography, argued on appeal that the sentence was unreasonable.
