Tamba Hali expects he and Justin Houston will pile up sacks

Tamba Hali, who had nine sacks last season, one fewer than Justin Houston, isn’t ready to concede his Chiefs sack title permanently, but didn’t sound confident he would get it back this year, either. “As an athlete, I can’t compete with the kid,” Hali said of Houston. “He’s that much better.’’ But Hali also says the Chiefs as a whole will have more sacks this season.

CEOs get a raise: Median pay rises 6.5 percent to $9.7 million

CEO pay has been going one direction for the past three years: up. The head of a typical large public company made $9.7 million in 2012, a 6.5 percent increase from a year earlier that was aided by a rising stock market. Joplin tornado: Two-year anniversary

On May 22, 2011, an EF-5 tornado struck Joplin, Mo, killing 161 people and causing massive damage and destruction. These images are eerily similar to the photographs taken this week in Moore, Oklahoma.

A new restaurant and bar opens today in the former R Bar space in the West Bottoms. Voltaire -- named after the French philosopher -- is a new restaurant from Jill Myers and Wes Gartner, the owners of Moxie Catering.
