One day after his return from disabled list, Alex Gordon sits out for Royals

Alex Gordon sat out the Royals’ game against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night, a day after his first game back with Kansas City since injuring his groin July 8. Manager Ned Yost indicated the team would continue to gradually re-integrate Gordon into the starting lineup.

Planned hotel cited as four large conventions choose Kansas City

Visit KC said the bookings — the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, the Mothers of Preschoolers International, the American Public Works Association and Quilts Inc. — could generate more than $17 million for the local economy. “As I’ve said before, the convention hotel is a game changer,” said Ronnie Burt, Visit KC’s president and chief executive. “Usually, this type of interest doesn’t happen until the shovel is in the ground.”
