Singer Joe Cocker dies at age 70 after battle with cancer

British singer Joe Cocker, who had hits that included “You Are So Beautiful” and “Up Where We Belong,” and a contortionist style of performance parodied by John Belushi on “Saturday Night Live,” has died. He was 70. His London-based agent said Cocker died Monday of lung cancer in Colorado, where he has lived for the past two decades.


Volunteers fight the vast problem of childhood hunger, one BackSnack at a time

For decades, Larry Mattson, a history teacher in the Center School District, saw that children in his classroom were coming to school hungry. Now retired, Mattson volunteers to fill BackSnack food packs for Harvesters. Another program in Mattson’s church, Colonial Presbyterian, enlists adults with special needs to help fill the packs.


Light snow is possible for KC, and so are travel delays

A white Christmas is still unlikely in Kansas City, but Monday’s rain is forecast to turn to light snow Tuesday with up to an inch and a half falling across the northernmost part of the region by Wednesday. However, holiday travelers face possible flight delays and bad driving conditions north and east of Kansas City.
