An inspection prompted the closing of the Grand Boulevard Bridge over Interstate 670 Friday morning in downtown Kansas City. Cracks showed significant damage to the bridge. Missouri Department of Transportation officials said they didn’t know how long repairs, or replacement, might take.
Last month, Brett Atkinson, owner of Wilma’s, brought his latest invention to The Star’s kickoff Food Truck Friday event. At first Atkinson called it a Reverse Engineered Cheeseburger, or Meat Pickle. It was the latter name that stuck and spawned #MeatPickle — as suggested by @FeastMiller. You can try a Meat Pickle and other edible inventions during Food Truck Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. May 6 in The Kansas City Star’s parking lot at the corner of 17th and McGee. Video by Tammy Ljungblad.
