Belton School District investigating bullying and hurtful emails

Administrators in the Belton School District think somebody has found a way to send bullying emails and make them appear as if they are coming from student email accounts. The attacks are coming through district-issued iPads. Kersten Laughlin, a seventh-grader at Belton Middle School and Freshman Center, was one of the recipients.

The Royals entered the sixth inning of Sunday’s regularly scheduled game against the Chicago White Sox leading by three runs and breezing toward another victory over their American League Central foes. Ten batters, five hits, three unearned runs and one error by Mike Moustakas later, the Royals exited the inning with a two-run deficit they could not overcome.

Ink’s Middle of the Map Fest shows off its diversity on final day

Ink’s Middle of the Map Fest ended its four-day celebration with more than 12 hours of music in bars and venues throughout Westport, including an outdoor stage headlined by Peter Hook, founding member of Joy Division and New Order. Saturday’s lineup was the festival’s most diverse, offering a mix of folk, rock, hip-hop, country, jazz, punk and no-wave rock. Here’s a look at some of dozens of performances.
