The Rhythm ’n Balloons festival at Hodge Park in Kansas City, North, canceled its Sunday events. In an announcement on its website, organizers cited “unforeseen circumstances related to weather the past few days” for the cancellation.
A six-member team of scientists lived in a dome on top of Mauna Loa for a year, which might sound good until you consider that they could only leave their dome while wearing spacesuits because they were simulating a mission to Mars. They have concluded that a manned Mars mission is feasible, at least from a “technological and psychological” perspective. But they can’t wait to swim and eat fresh food.
A man and a woman are dead in an apparent murder-suicide at 7th Heaven, 7621 Troost Ave. in Kansas City. Police were dispatched to an active shooter scene early Sunday afternoon at the business. A victim was found shot to death, and the gunman apparently shot himself to death, said Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté.
