KC mayor’s race still two years away, but one council member way ahead on fundraising

Kansas City Councilman Scott Taylor has jumped out to a huge fundraising advantage for the next mayor’s race, even though it’s two years away. Other possible contenders from the City Council have only raised a fraction of the money needed to be serious contenders. But they say they’re concentrating on doing their current council jobs. And some may not be running for mayor anyway.

Srinivas Kuchibhotla, the India-born engineer killed in an Olathe bar last week, was the sort of man we must not just mourn but emulate at this overheated moment. The most important contribution we could make in the face of this unacceptable loss might be to soften our hearts and tone to those who are different.
