Former priest Shawn Ratigan’s 50-year sentence for child pornography upheld

A federal appeals court on Thursday upheld the 50-year prison sentence of Catholic priest and convicted child pornographer Shawn Ratigan. Ratigan, who was sentenced last September after pleading guilty to federal charges of producing and attempting to produce child pornography, argued on appeal that the sentence was unreasonable.

KCI overhaul base lands work from two more airlines

Base operator Aviation Technical Services said Hawaiian Airlines and Air Canada have signed on to have aircraft work done at the facility. The Kansas City operation employs more than 70 technicians and support workers. ATS has said it plans to employ 540 and use 40 contract workers at the facility in the next three to five years.


New City Market vendor offers gourmet snacks

Hungry Monkey Party Bites has set up a kitchen at 106 E. Fifth St. with a goal of “transcending the bounds of the ordinary snack.” It plans to start selling its flavored popcorn, nuts, cookies and other treats at the City Market starting Saturday.
