NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s performance on Friday may have been forced and wooden, but the conversations and the consciousness-raising resulting from Ray Rice’s attack on his fiancée may end up moving society to a place where domestic violence won’t be tolerated.

It’s fine to lose. It’s inexcusable to no-show. The most anticipated Royals game in a generation needed 31 minutes to turn into boos. From there, it just got worse. Much, much worse, a 10-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.
