Edmund Russell, one of KC area’s last Pearl Harbor veterans, dies

Edmund Russell of Lenexa was serving in the Army Air Corps at Wheeler Field in Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941, when the Japanese attacked. He and other Kansas City area survivors for years would gather on the anniversary of the attack at the Sylvester Powell Community Center in Mission. Russell died Monday at age 99.
