Royals’ Perez, Escobar, Cain and Gordon to start for American League in All-Star Game

Half of the eight position players who take the field for the American League in the All-Star Game on July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati will be Royals. The final votes are in, and four Kansas City players have been elected starters: catcher Salvador Perez; shortstop Alcides Escobar; and outfielders Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon.


Jack Steadman, an influential figure in success of the Chiefs, dies at age 86

Jack Steadman was Lamar Hunt’s right-hand man starting with the formation of the American Football League and founding of the franchise in 1960. He oversaw three AFL championships and a Super Bowl victory and was the principal force behind the construction of the Truman Sports Complex, home to Arrowhead and Kauffman stadiums. He helped make Kansas City a major-league city.
