Voters delayed as KC polling place has wrong list of registered voters
More News
The polls are open, lines are forming and would-be voters at one Kansas City location had problems casting their ballots.
At the All Souls Church at 45th and Walnut streets, the wrong list of registered voters was brought to the site. People who have voted at that location for years were not on the books provided to poll workers.
That led to a frantic scramble to fix the problem. So far, only a few people have voted at the All Souls location. Election officials on site declined comment. There are unconfirmed reports of other problems in the midtown and Brookside areas.
At 5:30 a.m., more than 50 people were lined up to vote at All Souls. By 7 a.m., the line stretched almost two blocks. The delay caused some people to leave, saying that they would come back later to vote.
Polls in Missouri and Johnson County in Kansas opened at 6 a.m. Polls in Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties open at 7 a.m. Officials both in the metro area and across the nation expect heavy turnout.
