•Details: As managing principal, Steve Duethman will oversee the performance of the Kansas City office and its finances, and otherwise work with the three other principals in the office. He currently is managing the design of the new JQH Arena at Missouri State University in Springfield. Ellerbe Becket’s Kansas City office began as a sports operation. Duethman and his colleagues have expanded the scope to include health care, higher education, government and mission critical facilities.
•Background: Duethman has been with Ellerbe Becket for 16 years, managing large-scale projects for the firm’s collegiate and professional sports clients. Recent projects include the University of Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena, the Louisiana Superdome renovation and the new Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
•Education: Duethman graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor of environmental design degree. The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards certifies him.
•Thoughts: “Our office is focusing on diversifying projects and taking on more local ones, using our firm-wide expertise. We want to have even more presence in Kansas City.”
