“We’ve saved the best ’til last,” said Jim Haas, of Jim Haas Builders Inc., the award-winning exclusive builder.
For more than 25 years, Haas has been building homes in Johnson County and was the 2005 Hall of Fame inductee into the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City. Only one builder in the Kansas City area receives this award a year. “We take our company motto, ‘Quality that is authentic,’ very seriously at Jim Haas Builders,” Haas said.
The expertise and skill behind the Highlands of Kensington has been recognized with numerous awards. The community won accolades from the city of Olathe for its beautification efforts and received a Silver Award for the Best Community in Kansas by Kansas City Homes & Gardens magazine in 2006.
Most recently, Haas received a 2007 American Dream first runner-up award for his two-story Cambridge model and a 2006 Parade of Homes Distinctive Plan & Design first place award for his 1 1/2 -story Ashton model. Haas is featuring two models, the Essex reverse 1 1/2 -story, entry 154, and the Dover two-story, entry 153, in the 2008 Spring Homes Tour that continues until May 18.
Four new furnished models — a reverse 1 1/2 -story, 1 1/2 -story and two two-stories — are open daily. Completed homes are priced from the $400,000s to more than $600,000. Inventory homes are available for purchase and homesites starting at $71,900 are available for reservation.
The community’s newest floor plan, the Essex, is a spacious reverse, and was a Grand Award winner during the 2005 Spring Homes Tour. A master bedroom and second bedroom are featured on the main floor, along with a private desk area and laundry area off of the kitchen. The open plan has a hearth kitchen with granite countertops and a walk-in pantry. The finished lower level features a large family room and has what Haas described as two additional generous bedrooms and bathroom. The home starts at $374,950, plus the lot cost and any options.
“Our success comes from the sincere team effort given by every subcontractor and company employee. We pride ourselves on creating neighborhoods that people long to come home to,” Haas said.
During his career, Haas has sold more than 1,000 homes and sits on the board of directors for the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City. He also serves on the Overland Park Board of Code Appeals and has been designated a Certified Graduate Builder by the National Association of Home Builders. Haas also won nine Metropolitan Awards for Marketing Excellence awards from the HBA in 2005.
Other communities where Haas has built homes include Rolling Woods, Quail Valley Estates, Indian Creek Estates, Nottingham Estates, Kensington Manor, Kensington Valley, Stone Post Ranch, Village of Kensington, Kensington at St. Andrews, The Wilderness, Shadowbrook, Windsor Hills, Wakefield Estates, Hunter’s Ridge, Carriage Crossing, Waterford and Dellwood Park.
