The Star’s All-Metro football first team: offensive players

    QUARTERBACK/ RUNNING BACKS

RB,JaVon Williams, Olathe East, 6-0, 195, junior. In his first year as a starter, Williams led the Sunflower League with 1,524 rushing yards (7.2 per carry) and scored 21 touchdowns despite missing most of two games with an injured ankle. He led the Hawks to a 9-2 record and the Kansas 6A quarterfinals.

QB, Sean Ransburg, Harrisonville, 6-1, 205, senior. Ransburg had no trouble finding the end zone this season for the Wildcats. He scored a combined 58 touchdowns, 29 on the ground and 29 through the air. Ransburg amassed 4,241 yards of total offense and led Harrisonville to a 14-0 record and the school’s third straight championship.

RB, Carlos Anderson, Blue Springs, 5-8, 165, senior. Anderson rushed for 1,693 yards and led the Wildcats to the Missouri Class 6 state quarterfinals. Anderson scored 23 touchdowns and averaged more than 37 yards per kickoff return.

RB, Dalton Krysa, Fort Osage, 5-10, 190, junior. Krysa rushed for 2,184 yards and finished the season with 24 touchdowns. He was a workhorse who carried the ball 374 times and averaged more than 5 yards per carry.

    TIGHT END/ RECEIVER

TE, Travis Tannahill, Olathe East, 6-4, 230, senior. Tannahill, who will continue his football career at Kansas State next year, caught a team-best 25 passes for 462 yards and five touchdowns as a tight end. His stats belied his full value, though. Hawks coach Jeff Meyers called him the best blocking tight end he ever coached.

WR, Erick Roe, West Platte, 6-4, 180, senior. Roe is Missouri’s all-time receiving yardage and touchdowns leader, finishing his career with more than 4,000 yards. During his senior season, Roe caught 78 passes for 1,391 yards. He finished the season with 16 touchdowns and an average of 17.8 yards per catch.

    OFFENSIVE LINE

OL, Jack Euston, Rockhurst, 6-1, 275, senior. Euston was a cornerstone for one of the city’s top offenses. Rockhurst piled up more than 4,000 yards of offense, and it all began with Euston and the Hawklets’ offensive line.

OL, T.J. Paletaoga, Blue Springs, 6-1, 280, senior. Paletaoga led a Blue Springs offensive line that created big holes for first-team running back Carlos Anderson and a rushing attack that went for more than 2,400 yards. Paletaoga was an all-conference, all-district and all-state selection.

OL, Bob Klug, Blue Valley North, 6-6, 240, senior. Anchor of an offensive line that cleared the way for two of the East Kansas League’s top rushers during the regular season. The Mustangs’ success on the ground was no coincidence – they ran behind Klug more than 65 percent of the time.

OL, Aaron Kolich, Olathe South, 6-2, 265, senior. The Falcons’ center was the leader on an offensive line that cleared the way for one of the state’s most productive offenses. Olathe South gained more than 4,600 yards of offense on its way to a Kansas 6A state runner-up finish.

OL, Lucas Kriz, Fort Osage, 6-2, 265, senior. Kriz helped pave the way for 2,000-yard rusher Dalton Krysa. Kriz and Fort Osage reached the Missouri Class 5 state semifinals.
