Former D.C. schools chief is still a lightning rod in education

Fitting end to a dismal trip: Royals and Shields lose 3-1 to Astros

The Royals sent their ace, James Shields, to the mound in Wednesday’s finale and, as usually happens when James Shields pitches, their attack turtled and resulted in a 3-1 loss to the Houston Astros.

Jayhawks’ Kuntz hoping for a big finish at Big 12 tourney

Son of Royals’ first-base coach is the most dependable defender in a resurgent KU program. But a six-game losing streak has put all of KU’s hope of getting into the NCAA Tournament on a good showing in Oklahoma City.
