More News

The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude-4.6 earthquake has shaken a remote area of the Mojave Desert in Southern California.

The 1:21 p.m. Monday tremor southeast of the community of Trona is the latest of a number of small earthquakes that have occurred around Southern California over two days.

The USGS says the epicenter was 117 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

Earlier Monday, a magnitude-3.6 quake occurred south of Anza in the vicinity of the Riverside-San Diego County line, about 30 miles southwest of Palm Springs.

On Sunday, a magnitude-4.3 quake and a smaller tremor occurred well offshore near San Nicolas Island.
