    VOICES 04/29/08

While at my mailbox recently, I observed three cars going by. Two of the three were yakking on cell phones. It’s nearly this bad on our busier thoroughfares, with traffic being heavier than it is on my street, people going slower than usual, weaving in and out and oh-so absorbed in their vital conversations. Surveys show the increased danger of wrecks while talking on your cell phone. When are our lawmakers going to address this and eliminate it? And I don’t mean by going hands-free.

John McCain, I heard you say that the Republican Party is the party of Abraham Lincoln. I know we all try to live our childhood memories in adulthood. However, we are no longer in Abraham Lincoln’s times, and I am bitter.
