Have you been to the new Hy-Vee store at 8501 W. 95th St. in Overland Park?
Words fail me. Attacking innocent people at the Boston Marathon. What should have been a most joyous time of personal achievement and glory, instantly turned into a grisly tragedy.
After spending a year dividing the country into voting segments, after a year of telling people how mean the Republicans are, after a year of not running on his own positions, President Barack Obama would like the country to come together.
With all the fraud and waste in government spending, elected officials should strip taxpayer funding of programs engaging in questionable activities.
“We, the people,” should be changed to “We, the lobbyists and special interests groups.”
Regarding Kansas City International Airport, Im not fully convinced of the need for a new terminal so Im looking forward to the publicity campaign being created by Global Prairie. My only request is that it be heavy on facts and low on glitz, starting with proper terminology.
I wish The Kansas City Star would quit using the term new airport when referring to the possibility of building a new terminal (4-5, A1, New KCI closer to takeoff). Airports include runways, taxiways, control towers and all sorts of other infrastructure.
Substantial policy issues in Missouri and Kansas have me questioning whether I can sustain my medical career in the Show-Me State. There are several reasons for my concern.
I travel about 50 percent of the time in my work and see a lot of airports. Kansas City International Airport is one of the most efficient airports in the country.
I have watched youngsters play video games for years.
Transportation accidents are a major cause of death in the U.S. Each year, car crashes claim more than 1,000 lives in Missouri, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Doctors and scientists involved in President Barack Obamas brain-mapping project should start with an in-depth examination of the brains of those who voted for him twice.
Considering the current activities of the YMCA board, I hope companies and corporations that will soon be asked to contribute toward a new downtown YMCA will think long and hard about whether the YMCA is worthy of any contributions.
I was shocked to hear during the fiscal cliff warnings that up to 800,000 civilian employees in the Department of Defense might be affected.
Gov. Sam Brownback and the Kansas Legislature have embraced policies that bestow great benefits on our wealthiest citizens and businesses. Unfortunately, this has been at the expense of ordinary people, who are already seeing a decline in public services, with hardships resulting.
I would like to introduce legislation changing the name of our state of Kansas to something more appropriate. The runners-up were Koch Dakota, Kochorado and Kochiana.
Many decades ago (early 20th century), certain books and movies were “banned in Boston” because their content was deemed objectionable by the church or other censorship boards extant at the time. This action usually resulted in the banned book becoming an instant best seller and the movie a holdover hit for months afterward.
Lee Judge makes me laugh and think. Keep up the good work, baby.
We have seen that some areas of our town went to an abundance of restaurants and bars in close proximity. That doesnt work out well for anyone.
On Tuesday, North Kansas City residents will elect a mayor. There are many facets to a mayor’s job, ranging from financial recommendations to managing city policies and employees to communicating openly and honestly with the citizens.
Where’s spring? I miss global warming.
I attended the second- and third-round games of the NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament at the Sprint Center during the weekend.
After Jesus asked the apostles, “Whom do you say that I am?” he promised St. Peter that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church. The Catholic Church continues to teach Christian doctrine, morality and will until the end of time.
On April 2, Kansas City voters should vote yes on Question 1 to ensure critical funding for Kansas City’s safety-net health-care providers.
