From days gone by, a tradition worth keeping

< Previous page

Today’s constantly evolving career paths don’t cater to the sort of one-company loyalty of the Putschs’ era. That’s simply a necessity of a faster-paced, technology-enhanced world. But I wish there was a way to maintain more of the honorable aspects of the employee-employer relationship from those years.

I have very few solid memories of the Putschs’ parties, past a vague recollection of colored ice cream pressed into the shape of Santas and snowmen. And of the fruit bags — red nets in the shape of candy canes filled with oranges, apples and nuts.

I remember the excitement of the day, but not any of the gifts I received.

Simple, well-executed parties are like that. The feeling surrounding the memory is recalled, not so much the tangible item you carted home.

It’s something to think about today, as we are all grateful for the family, friends and, yes, employees who support us year-round.
