How fast can you scare your fellow Kansas Citians?

If you think you can do it in 31 seconds (or less) and you have a video camera and a creative spark, make us a scary movie.

Rules and procedures

•Films can be no longer than 31 seconds. Why 31 seconds, you ask? Because Halloween is Oct. 31.

•Films may not contain copyrighted music. This is a biggie. Films with copyrighted music will not be uploaded to our site.

•Submission deadline is Oct. 22. Results will be announced Oct. 31.

After you make your 31-second scary film, upload it to http://videos.kansascity.com/vmix_hosted_apps/p/upload.

Once you’ve uploaded the film, send an entry e-mail to fyi@kcstar.com . Include the movie’s title, the names of all of your production team and your contact information. Put Scary Film in the subject line.

In addition to the prestige of producing the winning film, winners will receive movie gift certificates to their favorite theater.
