More News

Dennis Hopper has prostate cancer

Dennis Hopper, 73, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is being treated through a special program at the University of Southern California.

Hopper’s manager, Sam Maydew, says the actor has canceled all travel plans to focus on his treatment. “We’re hoping for the best,” says Maydew, who would not elaborate on Hopper’s condition.

Morton denies Angelina dirt

Celebrity biographer Andrew Morton is denying that his upcoming book about Angelina Jolie claims that she slept with her mother’s live-in lover.

Rumors are swirling that he’s going to include details that Jolie, when she was 16, slept with the lover of her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, destroying her mom’s love affair.

“It’s about as true as I’m sitting on this horse,” Morton said to Life & Style magazine, quashing the speculation.

Paul Newman: So generous

Paul Newman was the most generous celebrity of 2008, according to The Giving Back Fund, which used public records to discover who donated what.

The fund estimated that Newman gave $21 million to numerous initiatives and campaigns.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spent an estimated $13.4 million on causes that included a health clinic in Ethiopia and the redevelopment of New Orleans last year.

Mel Gibson invested $6.5 million in causes, including a church in California.

Also on the list: Former NASCAR driver Richard Childress ($5 million); Oscar De La Hoya ($3.5 million); Sam Waterston ($2.1 million) and Barbra Streisand ($1.7 million).

Ledger rap video released

An Australian rapper who was a boyhood friend of Heath Ledger has released a music video the star directed shortly before his death.

N’fa Forster-Jones posted the 3-minute, 31-second-clip for his song “Cause An Effect” on his YouTube and MySpace pages last week, along with a video explaining how the project came about.

Ledger shot a handful of videos for low-profile artists he liked. He and Forster-Jones, who were friends since they were toddlers in Perth, shot the video in one day in the garage of Ledger’s beachside apartment.

“He gave me a call one morning, as he often did at crazy hours, and he’s like, ‘N’fa, I’ve got this idea for a video,’ ” the rapper says in the online posting. “He was basically running around directing me each shot. It was a really cool day.”

Wahlberg and wife are expecting a girl

Mark Wahlberg and his wife, Rhea Durham, are having a fourth child together. And it’s a girl.

“I’m having another girl. So I’ll have two girls and two boys,” says Wahlberg, who says he’s kind of hoping this will be his last child.

“I’m the youngest of nine, and my dad has a few others. No, four is enough. We were all raised with a lot of love. But we didn’t get the kind of attention I think that we all needed,” he tells People magazine.

“My parents had to provide to put food on the table. My mission in life is to raise my kids right. With all the success I’ve had in the world, if I fail at that, my life means nothing.”

In the end, though, he says his wife will have the final say.

“My wife is allowed to pick the magic number ... as many as she wants to have,” he says.

When Lisa Gutierrez isn’t thinking that Mark Wahlberg might have to go back to modeling underwear if he keeps having kids, she’s Stargazing among hopefully accurate reports of celebrity news.
