Case of the Mondays | Lance Veeser is on the ball (usually, anyway)

More News

NBC Action News’ 10 p.m. Friday sportscast starts with someone lobbing a football at Lance Veeser. Has he ever not caught it?

Yep, one time — the ball bounced five feet in front of him. Oops. But everyone had a good laugh.

Veeser (rhymes with Weezer), 27, also anchors Saturday night sports; he’s a sports reporter other days of the week. He hails from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and graduated from Marshall University in West Virginia.

He and his new bride, Natasha, live in Kansas City, Kan.

WHO THROWS THE FOOTBALL BETTER: ELIZABETH ALEX OR GARY LEZAK?

They’re both good. But Elizabeth has been kind of our go-to person. She’s had just the one little mishap.

WERE YOU A JOCK IN HIGH SCHOOL?

I was. I actually played baseball at college. But I was also a nerd. (And he graduated from high school and college with 4.0s.)

FAVORITE NON-SPORTS MOVIE?

I’m a big “Braveheart” fan. I got addicted to it the first time I saw it. I like history.

FANTASY JOB?

I think I’m doing it. This was kinda my hope and dream since high school.

MONDAYS: MANIC OR MELLOW?

Very mellow. Mondays and Tuesdays are my days off. I run a lot of errands on my weekends.
