UPDATE: That darn Jimmy Kimmel. Now he’s getting U.S. Olympic athletes to pull off hoaxes on the rest of us.

Inside Edition reports that a video shot by American luger Kate Hansen of a “wolf” prowling the halls outside of her Sochi bedroom was a prank.

Sandy Caligiore, a publicist for the United States Luge Association, tells Inside Edition that Kimmel created the hoax for his “Late Night” show. Hansen will Skype with Kimmel for the show that airs Thursday night, according to Caligiore.

Hansen posted a YouTube video of a furry, four-legged something walking around the hallway outside of her bedroom. She also tweeted the 17-second clip to her nearly 20,000 Twitter followers.

The video, which she titled “Epic #SochiFail: Wolf in my hall,” kicked off lots of now-useless debate about what she actually saw.

“It's a dog. either a husky or a malamute. i think husky,” writes one YouTube user.

Our favorite response was: “No news here. Tell us again when a bear sits opposite you at the breakfast table.”

Hey Jimmy, there’s your next hoax.
