Overland Park man sentenced in bank fraud case

Updated: 2014-02-19T22:52:44Z

A Kansas federal judge sentenced an Overland Park man Wednesday to 11 years in prison for bilking investors and banks out of more than $5 million.

Ronald D. Catrell earlier admitted in his plea that he obtained lines of credit and loans from Kansas City financial institutions by providing them with bogus financial information, including incorrect balance statements from other banks and false tax returns and financial statements.

He also defrauded the partners of a company he co-founded by overstating the return of the partners’ investments, prosecutors said.
