Three Kansas City chefs named semifinalists in the 2014 James Beard Awards

Sweet news: The American Restaurant’s Nick Wesemann is a semifinalist in the Outstanding Pastry Chef category of the 2014 James Beard Foundation Awards.

Ted Habiger of Room 39 and Howard Hanna of The Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange have also been named semifinalists in the Best Chef: Midwest category, which Bluestem and Rye owner Colby Garrelts won last year.

The semifinalists were selected from thousands of online entries and announced this morning in Orlando. Finalists for the James Beard awards, the highest honor for food and beverage professionals in the nation, will be revealed March 18. Winners will be announced in May at an awards ceremony in New York City.
