A 43-year-old woman walked into Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis late Friday with a knife stuck in her head, Wichita police say.

The woman and a 49-year-old man said that someone pointed a handgun at them at an unknown location. The man pulled out a pocket knife to defend himself, but the suspect grabbed it and threw it at the woman. The knife landed in the back of the woman’s head, Sgt. Ron Hunt said Saturday. Doctors at the hospital removed it.
