A federal agency is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the burglar or burglars who stole firearms from the Bass Pro Shop in Independence early Thursday.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which is investigating the crime with Independence police, is offering the reward.

Someone took several long guns about 3 a.m. Thursday from the store at 18001 Bass Pro Drive, near Interstate 70 and Interstate 470.

Investigators ask anyone with the information to call the ATF at 1-800-ATF-GUNS (283-4867) or the Independence Police Department at 816-325-7300.
