LAS CRUCES, N.M — New Mexico State held UMKC to 26 percent shooting and coasted to a 71-48 victory at the Pan American Center on Thursday night, exacting a bit of revenge for the Kangaroos’ 68-66 win last month at Municipal Auditorium.
The Kansas City Star
Tshilidzi Nephawe and Renaldo Dixon both posted double-doubles for the Aggies. Nephawe finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Dixon chipped in 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. DK Eldridge and Ian Baker had 10 points apiece.
Martez Harrison led UMKC in scoring with 13 points. Nelson Kirksey added 12 points. Fred Chatmon pulled down 13 rebounds.
The Kangaroos managed just 15 percent shooting (two of 13) from long range.
Compared with UMKC’s cold shooting, New Mexico State fired in a higher percentage of its three-point shots (46 percent) than its overall field goal percentage (42 percent).
