Without her television, laptop computer and video games, a Shawnee burglary victim had a lot of time on her hands.

She put it to good use, police said.
Her hours of online sleuthing after she was victimized last Friday paid off when she saw her stolen laptop for sale on Craigslist.
From the photograph, police were able to verify the serial number on the device. Officers then had the woman pretend she was interested in buying the computer and had her set up a meeting in a parking lot with the seller.
Police were waiting when he showed up Tuesday night.
“We put the gotchas on him,” said Shawnee Police Maj. Bill Hisle.
On Wednesday, Seyyad Hosseini, 22, of Kansas City, Kan., was charged in Johnson County District Court with a count of felony theft.
Hisle said that besides the woman’s laptop, several other pieces of electronic equipment were recovered when Hosseini was arrested. Detectives are now trying to track down the owners of those items.
He said it was a good example of the importance of recording serial numbers on valuable belongings in case they are stolen, as the victim did in this case.
“She was not going to take this lying down,” he said.
