Boxers? Briefs? Boxer-briefs?
That’s the question that a couple of hundred runners will answer Saturday afternoon as they take to the downtown Kansas City streets dressed in nothing but their underwear.
The half-naked runners will be taking part in Kansas City’s first-ever Cupid’s Undie Run.
The event in the Power & Light District includes a pre-run party, about a mile run and a post-run party.
The event starts at noon at McFadden’s with the run at 2 p.m. The post-run party ends at 4 p.m.
Kansas City sent out an advisory saying that Cupid’s Undie Run will temporary affect traffic from 2 to 2:45 p.m.
The streets affected are Grand Boulevard between 12th and 14th streets; 12th Street between Grand and Oak Street; and Oak, between 11th and 12th streets.
Jason Cradit, race director, said about 230 people have registered, but about 300 runners are expected by race day.
Registration is capped at 500 people.
The fun run, one of the nation’s largest organized underwear runs, is a fundraiser to benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation. The fundraiser, started in 2010 in Washington, D.C., has raised nearly $2 million. The run will take place in 27 U.S. cities this year, and three in Australia.
