Center school board names new superintendent

Updated: 2014-02-13T00:15:31Z

Feeling they’ve got a good thing going, Center school board members opted to promote from within to replace retiring Superintendent Bob Bartman.

David Leone, the special assistant to the superintendent, will take the top post this summer.

The district has seen a steady and sometimes rapid rise since it was briefly provisionally accredited in the late 1990s, excelling under the late David Smith and then Bartman, achieving accreditation with distinction in 2012.

Leone has served during the district’s growth as a principal and in several central office positions.
